Five Arrested in Murder of Black Teen. 

South Carolina authorities have taken a fifth person into custody in connection with the April 13th shooting that killed 17-year-old Kahlil Simmons and injured another teenager.




Earlier in the investigation, four other people were arrested. Two of them, 18-year-old Jared Grant Marsh II and 17-year-old Tyler Hans Lariscey, now face upgraded or additional charges including murder and attempted murder.


Authorities say after killing Simmons they ran to 40-year-old Tarah Alexander and 40-year-old Bryan Alexander, who then attempted to help them cover up the crime. They were subsequently charged as accessories after the fact to murder. 


The latest arrest involves a 16-year-old charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

50 Years Later Woman Guilty of Killing Baby with Scalding Hot Bath. Janice Nix, 67, was found guilty Monday of manslaughter in the 1978 death of 5-year-old Andrea Bernard after jurors decided she forced the girl into a dangerously hot bath as punishment at the family home in London. The incident took place on June 6, 1978. Andrea suffered burns covering about half her body and died five weeks later on July 13th from sepsis and related complications. Back then, investigators treated the death as an accident. According to the Metropolitan Police, the case stayed closed until Andrea’s older brother, Desmond Bernard, came forward in September 2022 with a different account of what happened that day. Teacher Str-angles Former Student, Leaves Her for De-ad in the Woods In April 2006, in Belleville, Illinois, 17-year-old Ashley Reeves was brutally attacked by her former high school teacher and track coach, Sam Shelton, who was 27 years old at the time. Shelton lured Ashley into the woods under the pretense of helping her with a personal issue. The case started when staff at the private school came across a letter from the teacher, Keisha Stuart, addressed to the 14-year-old student.
